Smart Curtains / Maintenance

What happens during power outage?

Short answer: The app will not control a wired curtain motor during power outage, but the curtain can usually still be pulled manually if the model supports manual pull.

Explanation

During a power outage, a wired curtain motor cannot be controlled by app, schedule or voice assistant until power returns.

For many smart curtain systems, the curtain can still be pulled manually during power outage or when you need to operate it by hand. The actual hand-pull behaviour depends on the motor and track design, so check the model instructions.

After power returns, the motor should usually resume normal operation. If the limit position becomes inaccurate, relearn or reset the limit according to the manual.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting app control during power outage
  • forcing the curtain if the model does not support manual pull
  • ignoring limit position after power returns.

Troubleshooting / next steps

  • Use manual pull if supported. After power returns, test open and close. If position is wrong, reset/relearn the limits.
