Installation
Can the smart energy meter replace an RCCB?
No, it should not be treated as an RCCB replacement unless specifically rated for that protection.
Is a smart energy meter suitable for rental property?
Yes, a smart meter can help calculate tenant electricity usage. eWeLink models are recommended when CSV export is needed for easier calculation.
Can I use a 1P+N smart breaker for three-phase system?
A 1P+N device is for single-phase circuits only.
Can the smart energy meter support a whole single-storey house?
It depends on total load and the main RCCB/breaker rating.
Does the smart energy meter require stable WiFi?
Yes, stable WiFi is required for app monitoring and remote control.
Can I install a smart energy meter myself?
Electrical installation should be done by a qualified electrician.
Can I use smart meter with solar or inverter system?
No. Our standard smart energy meters are not suitable for solar or inverter systems unless the model specifically supports bidirectional energy flow measurement.
What is the difference between 60A and 63A smart meter versions?
They have different current ratings and product specifications.
Monitoring
Can I monitor electricity usage remotely?
Yes, if the meter is connected to WiFi and online.
Does the smart energy meter record history?
Some models record history. eWeLink models are preferred when CSV export is needed, while Smart Life meters usually allow viewing history but not CSV export.
Can I export electricity usage report?
Yes, if the model supports it. eWeLink models are preferred for CSV export; Smart Life meters usually allow history viewing but not CSV export.
Can the meter show real-time voltage, current and power?
Yes, monitoring models show V, A, W and kWh.
What is prepaid kWh or usage-limit cut-off on a smart meter?
Some Smart Life meters may allow a prepaid kWh or usage-limit setting, where power cuts off after the set usage is reached. eWeLink meters usually do not have this cut-off function.
Protection
What protection functions does the smart energy meter have?
Protection functions depend on the exact model. They may include over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-power or usage-limit/prepaid kWh functions.
Can the energy meter automatically cut off power?
Yes, protection models can cut off when configured limits are triggered.
What is over-current protection?
It turns off when current exceeds the configured limit.
What is over-power protection?
It turns off when power usage exceeds the configured watt limit.
What is over-voltage protection?
Over-voltage protection turns off the output when the voltage goes above the configured limit, if the model supports this function.
