What is a neutral wire?

A neutral wire is part of the electrical circuit that provides a return path for current. In many Malaysian homes, the neutral wire may be present at the light fitting or distribution point, but not always inside the wall switch box. For smart switches, neutral wire is important because the electronics inside the switch need a continuous power supply. If neutral is available in the switch box, many smart switches can operate more stably without using a capacitor.
